about

I have more than 20 years' experience as a writer and editor, and have specialised in global agricultural development since obtaining an MSc in Food Policy in 2012.

In 2013, when The Guardian launched its Global Development Professionals section, I became its regular food security correspondent. I have also written for the Sustainable Business section and for Guardian Labs.

From 2016 to 2019, I ran the UK Parliament's All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Agriculture and Food for Development. I produced reports and briefing papers for Parliamentarians on topics including rural infrastructure, climate risk insurance, and aquaculture. I also led delegations to Sierra Leone and Uganda to visit development projects run by NGOs and UN organisations such as FAO, IFAD and WFP.

As a copywriter, my clients have included the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), the Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition, the Malabo Montpellier Panel, the Islamic Development Bank, CARE International UK and Grow Africa.

I am based in London, but have carried out short-term field work in Ethiopia, Nigeria, Mozambique, Kenya and Cote d'Ivoire.

For the first 10 years of my career I worked as a magazine sub-editor, and editing remains in my blood. If you have a report that needs to be cut, rewritten, summarised or just checked for typos, I'll be happy to help.
